Book Review: Veronica and Edward

HERE IS THE LINK TO THE BOOK'S PAGE ON AMAZON.

BLURB

Both of them are nice and easygoing. Both of them are jolly, sometimes even when they're supposed to be serious (Edward, perhaps, a little more). Both of them are stubborn (Veronica, perhaps, a little more).

And, most importantly, neither of them is exactly... ahem, monogamous! If you think that an open relationship cannot be romantic, read not this book.

Queen Veronica and King Edward, one of the most eccentric couples in the Commonwealth Empire!

When they first met, they were just two six year old heirs to the thrones of their respective homelands. Their love story spans a period of decades.

Watch the two royals grow up together. Watch them slowly transition from innocence to sexuality, from friendship to... so much more! Watch their efforts to unify their respective kingdoms into a single sovereign state. Watch the problems arising from their dysfunctional relationship with their daughter, Princess Isabella, who is anything but cool with her parents' unconventional sex life.

Can this royal family be kept together? Hard to say.

It took me forever to complete this romance novel, but it was so worth it!

The story takes place in a fictional world, but in modern settings, with some fantasy elements here and there. It is the love story of Queen Veronica and King Edward of the fictional Commonwealth Empire.

Veronica and Edward are the royal version of the 'eccentric rich couple' trope I came across in various cartoons and comics in my childhood. A power couple with a laid back attitude, two people who know how to enjoy the good life, for all their quirks. Also, they have an open (non monogamous) relationship! Though, personally, I don't think that makes their love any less romantic!

When they first meet, they are two six year old heirs to the thrones of their respective homelands. Edward's homeland is the United States of Libertaria. Veronica's homeland is the United Kingdom of the Arthurian Islands. Those two kingdoms will later be united into the Commonwealth Empire, when the two heirs eventually fall in love and get married.

The story of Edward and Veronica spans a period of decades, from their childhood to their middle age. The events are not presented in chronological order, but rather in the order I felt like writing them in!

Essentially, we follow a 'present', where the two middle aged monarchs have to face various problems arising from their dysfunctional relationship with their daughter, Princess Isabella; you see, the Princess is not exactly delighted to know that her parents fancy threesomes!

This present timeline, though, is constantly intercut with scenes from the past, where we get to see younger versions of Veronica and Edward having to deal with challenges very different from the ones they face in the present.

We see their child selves growing up together. They explore the world around them, get involved into various dangerous situations (unbeknownst to their respective parents!) and, eventually, experience their sexual awakening together, all the while preparing themselves to rule their people.

We see their young adult versions working towards the unification of their respective nations into a single sovereign state.

And don't think I have neglected to add a villain to the mix! (MILD SPOILER ALERT) Though it will be a while before he appears in the story. It is someone who will stage a rebellion and try to abolish the monarchy and impose a communist regime! Will that guy successfully overthrow the royal family?

Will Veronica's and Edward's love survive the passage of time, the coup attempts, their daughter's frustration and the weight of an empire? Get my novel and find out.
