Remember my post about the Quran? (If you don't remember, HERE it is.)
So, a while ago, I decided that, for the sake of fair play and objectivity, I should do something similar about the Holy Book of Christians as well: the Bible.
And so, I started reading it. I started out with the New Testament. I read the whole Gospel of Matthew and a part of the Gospel of Mark. Then I stopped.
I apologize. I know that, to be impartial, just as I read the entire Quran, I had to read the entire Bible as well. But I couldn't. It was so bad that I just couldn't.
Why?
Well, here is some stuff I came across in the part I read before I gave up.'Whoever calls someone a fool is in danger of the hellfire.'
'If your (arm, leg, eye, insert any body part you want) causes you to sin, cut it off. Because it's better for you to lose part of your body than for your whole body to go to Hell.'
'In Heaven, there will be no marriage. You will be like angels.' (No sex in Heaven? Then why do we call it Heaven to begin with?😢)
Wow! Quotes like the above are ideal for lifting one's mood! I mean, all those people that say that reading the Bible fills their heart with happiness definitely know what they're talking about. If I don't feel that way when reading it, then it's obviously me who has done something wrong.
Jokes aside, none of the above was what caused me to stop reading.
However, past a point, it became gross as well.
To cure a deaf mute man, Jesus spat on his fingers and then touched the aforementioned man's tongue with them. I don't know whether this really caused that man to get his hearing, but it definitely caused me to lose my appetite for at least two days!
A few paragraphs later, to cure a blind man, Jesus spat on his fingers and touched with them that man's eyes.
At this point, I went like, 'I don't deserve this. The hell with objectivity, the hell with the post I was planning to write on my blog.' And so, I gave up.
Sorry, fellows. I know that today's post is
shorter than usual, but I think I have read enough of the Bible to know
what I'm dealing with. I don't wish to read any further about how self
amputation helps you get to Heaven or how I deserve to be burnt in
hellfire because of youtube comments I made in the past or how Jesus
would cure people by spitting on them.
Enough is enough!
